Dublin Fire Brigade have led tributes to two retired firefighters Patrick 'Joe' Davis and John Duff who both sadly died this week.
Taking to social media, Dublin Fire Brigade wrote: "It is with great sadness this week that we learned of the deaths of two retired Firefighters Patrick ‘Joe' Davis and John Duff.
"Joe retired some 30 plus years ago, John more recently.
"Both very popular FFs in service and retirement Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha."
Joe was from Coolock in Dublin and he served for many years before his retirement 30 years ago.
He is predeceased by his wife Kay, sadly missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours and former colleagues
Meanwhile, John was from Terenure and he recently retired. He passed away peacefully at Our Lady's Hospice, Harold's Cross on Wednesday.
He is sadly missed by his wife Louise, children, grandson, extended family, and many friends especially all his colleagues at Dublin Fire Brigade.
Friends and colleagues from all over Dublin have paid tribute to the two brave heroes.
One person said: "May they both rest in peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamach."
Another said: "Rest in peace to two good men."
A third said: "Rest in peace Joe and John, two lovely men. Fantastic firefighters, you will both be missed."
A fourth said: "True heroes, may you both rest in peace."
