Tributes paid to 'tireless' Salford councillor Beryl Howard

The flag at the Salford City town Hall was flown at half-mast in memory of former Councillor Beryl Howard who sadly passed away. The former Boothstown councillor passed away on Sunday (July 31) in hospital.

Beryl was a councillor for Boothstown and Ellenbrook from 2003 to 2008, the news of Beryl's death was announced today (August 5). The Boothstown Resident Association paid tribute to Beryl who worked 'tirelessly' to for the community of Boothstown as a councillor and volunteer.

A post from the community group read: "I am very sad to tell you that Beryl Howard has passed away in hospital on 31st July 2022. She worked tirelessly for the community of Boothstown both as councillor and community volunteer.

"She and husband Michael spent many hours helping to improve the quality of life for residents, running her local neighbourhood watch group, attending community and residents' community meetings. She attended local planning issues and was always there to help in any way she could.

"Beryl and Michael also contributed to the success of the Boothstown Wobble and in recent years helped organise the Boothstown Carol Service on the precinct.

"Her wisdom will be much missed. Our condolences are sent to Michael and his relatives."

A post from Salford City Council read: "Sad news to hear that Beryl Howard passed away on 31st July. Beryl was a councillor for Boothstown and Ellenbrook from 2003 to 2008 (the ward boundary changed from Worsley and Boothstown in 2004).

"As a mark of respect Salford City Council is flying the town hall flag at half-mast."
