Tributes paid to Scots teenage footballer who passed away aged 16

Tributes have been paid to a "big hearted" teenager who died at the age of 16.

Matthew Dunn, from Dumfries, passed away suddenly leaving family and friends devastated. The St Joseph's College pupil, was well known for his contribution to youth football in the south of Scotland and a popular figure in his local community.

A family friend wrote: "This is one boy we absolutely will miss! I can’t believe we all need to say goodbye to such a lovely, caring big-hearted young man so early.

"Matthew was the sweetest boy anyone could ever ask for and always had a huge smile on his face that we will all miss every day and every night."

The youngster also worked at Soriani’s Mobile Fish & Chips. In a touching tribute to him, the business closed on Wednesday (November 2) as a mark of respect, saying they would "never" find another like him.

The business said: "After receiving the devastating news of Matthew being taken far too soon we will be closed on Wednesday 2nd November as a mark of respect.

"We’ll never find another one like you Matthew and the van will never be the same again. Thank you for the memories and helping us achieve what we have.

"We were the lucky ones who got the privilege to work with you and there won’t be a shift that goes by when you’re not thought of. Sleep tight wee man, forever in our thoughts."
