Tributes paid to 'gentle giant' Glasgow dad of five after sudden death aged 50

A family have been left heartbroken after 'gentle giant' and Glasgow dad of five Gary Miller died suddenly after suffering a blood clot in the brain which later led to a stroke.

A GoFundMe has been set up in Gary's memory as the community pull together to support his partner and their five children.

The 50-year-old was raised in Milngavie and worked as a taxi driver for many years before meeting his beloved Margo, the two went on to have five children who have been described as his "world".

The doting family man was very well known in the community and will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.

During a post on a Facebook community page, which received hundreds of moving comments, Gary has been described as "respected" and "a gentleman".

A close family friend, Karyn Higgins said Gary would be seen "plodding along fixing his and friends cars". He was a friendly face in the neighbourhood after changing career path and becoming a delivery driver for Evri and popular takeaway spot Flames.

Karyn described Gary as "the backbone for Margo and the kids."

Speaking to Glasgow Live she said: "Gary's death was a shock to them all. Everywhere Gary went he was known, a very well liked big guy. He was a gentle giant who would help anyone he could.

"His world was his five kids and they are devastated that they have lost their big daddy."

Karyn has set up a fundraising page to support the family towards the cost of Gary's funeral and give him the send off he deserves.

The family have paid an emotional and touching tribute in which they wrote "Our hearts are absolutely shattered into a million pieces.

"This morning our big gentle giant big daddy Gary passed away surrounded by his kids and family.

"He was truly one of a kind, a man in a million and the best dad in the world to his five kids - he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

"Sleep tight big guy and we will all see you when we get there. Love you forever and always, Margo and kids xxxxxx."
