Tributes paid to eight-year-old ‘one of a kind’ schoolgirl who tragically died

Poignant tributes have been pid to an eight-year-old girl who tragically died leaving behind devastated loved ones.

Lyla Ives, who was a ‘bubbly young girl, was rushed to hospital earlier this month and was pronounced dead on January 6.

The schoolgirl was “adored” by her mum and dad Courtney and Stuart, according to close family friend Martin Bell, who is helping the fundraising efforts for Lyla’s funeral.

Tributes have been pouring in for Lyla, who was described as a “one of a kind” youngster who loved playing with her friends and making TikTok videos.

31-year-old Martin revealed Lyla was admitted to hospital earlier this month before passing away suddenly.

He added that tests are still under way, but it is understood Layla may have died from a possible medical episode.

Lyla, who was from Cramlington had plenty of friends and loved spending her time watching YouTube, according to some of the heartfelt tributes that have been paid to her.

Martin, who is supporting Lyla’s parents, has also set up a JustGiving page in the hope of raising £3,000, which will go towards funeral costs and helping Lyla’s family.

So far, over £5,000 has been raised, according to Newcastle Chronicle.

A note on the page says: “Last week we had the absolutely devastating news that we have lost our beautiful Lyla.

“It’s impossible to put into words the pain and sadness everyone is feeling, losing her so suddenly and at such a young age.

“Lyla was such a bright, amazing and funny girl. She touched the hearts of everyone who met her.

“She was adored by family, friends, teachers and school mates. She has left a void that will never be filled and broke the hearts of us all.

“We can never bring her back and by God I wish there was a way we could, but by helping out with this fundraiser I’m hoping we can at least take away part of the financial burden a funeral brings and make a fitting memorial to her.

“Its the very least she deserves.”

A moving tribute was also shared by Cramlington Village Primary School, where Lyla was a popular pupil in Year 4.

“Lyla was kind, compassionate, considerate and popular in the local community as she played out with friends across lots of year groups”, it said.

“She was happy-go-lucky, always liked to do the right thing and she has left an indelible print on our hearts.”

The school added: “At CVPS we feel the school is an extended family to us all and we are so devastated to lose one of our own...”
