Tributes have been pouring in following the death of a 'courageous and inspiring' coach.
Dave Daly died on Tuesday after a lifetime involved with soccer in Galway city. Daly was a legend of the sport in the west, a top-class coach and referee, he was at the heart of club West United FC.
West United shared news of club giant Daly's death and paid a touching tribute to a man whose generosity to his club, community and to soccer in the west was boundless, reports Galway Beo.

The club shared how he hailed clubmates to bid him farewell at his home before he lost his brave battle with illness. They called him the most "courageous and inspiring man you could ever meet".
They said that they had lost "one of the very best" in breaking the heartbreaking news of first team coach and club committee member Dave Daly.
West United said Dave was a family man who whose selfless nature made him "special". They hailed his generosity in refusing payment as first team manager once the club made the decision to go pro with their coaching staff.
Dave did it "for the love of the game" according to the club. West United said his spirit made him many friends inside and outside the game.
Daly was tireless in campaigning for improvements to club facilities and was pivotal to the development of the now-successful West United Academy.
West United also told tales of Dave as a player. He was central to the club's Connacht U-15 Cup under another coaching giant, Mike O'Connor.
Dave Daly was also a top-class referee and his talent and fairness saw him take charge of two FAI Intermediate Cup finals.
The club also praised Dave for his fairness and sporting spirit. Despite his success in the game, he insisted on the club being more inclusive and that sport was for everyone.
The club passed on their respects to Dave's family and said they would miss their beloved club member and promised to continue his legacy of building the club and making sure that no-one gets left out.
