Tributes of Dulce Pour in From the United States

En español

Mexico is not the only country mourning the death of Dulce. The sudden passing of the Mexican singer has left her family and fans worldwide shocked and heartbroken. The Mexican-American community, especially in Brownsville, TX, the border city near her hometown of Matamoros, has been deeply affected.

Tributes and grieving for the celebrated artist have poured in non-stop since news of her death broke on Christmas Day.

The Mexican artistic community was among the first to pay respects. Following the announcement, the production of the musical 'Mentiras,' which features some of Dulce's songs, dedicated its Wednesday, December 25, performance to her memory.

However, the tributes don't stop there. On Friday, December 27, a memorial mass will be held at the iconic Basilica of Guadalupe, where the singer's ashes will be presented. The public is invited to attend and bid their final farewell.

The ashes will be then taken to Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Dulce's birthplace, where they will rest alongside her mother's remains.

Grieving across borders

Dulce's tributes have crossed borders, reaching the extensive Mexican-American community in the United States. Several TV networks interrupted their regular programming to air special segments honoring her successful and extensive career.

Similarly, several radio stations have played Dulce's greatest hits to celebrate her legacy.

In Brownsville, Texas, the town bordering Dulce's Mexican hometown, Matamoros, tributes have poured in as well. Brownsville Mayor John Cohen joined a growing list of public figures paying tribute to the artist.

Mayor Cohen officially authorized tributes to be laid at Brownsville's Walk of Fame, where Dulce has her own star. Fans have gathered to leave flowers and candles in her memory.

Dulce's passing is a significant loss for the music industry. With a career spanning 50 years, she leaves behind an enduring legacy that continues to resonate with devoted followers across generations.

The singer died on Wednesday, December 25, at the age of 69 after nearly a month in the hospital due to pulmonary complications. She is survived by her daughter, Romina Marconi, with whom she was able to reunite with in her final months, and her grandson.
