Tributes Flow For Michelle Trachtenberg Following Her Death: ‘I Wish I Could’ve Helped’

Following the tragic news of actor Michelle Trachtenberg‘s death, her co-stars from throughout her career have taken to social media to pay tribute to her.

The 39-year-old Gossip Girl star was found unresponsive in her New York City home by her mother on February 26. Her death is not being treated as suspicious. However, it has been reported that Trachtenberg recently underwent a liver transplant.

Trachtenberg started her acting career at only 10 years old in the 1996 film Harriet the Spy. She went on to star in television shows including the soap All My Children, Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, and films Ice Princess, Eurotrip and 17 Again.

Following the news of Trachtenberg’s sudden passing, her co-stars from her successful career have taken to social media to pay tribute to her and offer their well wishes to her family and friends.

Speaking to Us Weekly, Rosie O’Donnell — who starred alongside Trachtenberg in Harriet The Spy — shared that the news was “heartbreaking”.

“I loved her very much. She struggled the last few years. I wish I could’ve helped.”

Buffy star James Marsters shared a message on Instagram alongside a photo of them together on set.

“My heart is heavy today. We have lost a beautiful soul,” he wrote.

“Michelle was fiercely intelligent, howlingly funny, and a very talented person. She died much too young and left behind scores of people who knew and loved her.

“My heart goes out to her family who are good people and are suffering the greatest loss anyone could bear. I hope everyone can give them space to heal in this most difficult time. Godspeed Michelle. You are missed.”

Fellow Buffy star David Boreanaz shared a message on Instagram Stories.

“So very sad… horrible news,” he wrote. “RIP and prayers to her and her family.”

“Rest in peace sweet Michelle 💔,” wrote Kim Cattrall, who starred alongside Michelle in the beloved teen drama Ice Princess.

Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick shared his condolences on Instagram, writing: “So sad to hear of the passing of Michelle Trachtenberg. Sending prayers”.

SNL star Kenan Thompson — who worked with Michelle at Nickelodeon — shared a video and a photo of the pair together while reminding others to check in on their loved ones.

“Our first Nick movie star has departed us!!” he wrote.

“She was my friend and now she rests!! 🙏🏾 Check on your people!!! ❤️”

In all of the posts above, fans have flooded the comment sections with their own tributes to Trachtenberg, noting how much of a role she played in their childhoods through her special roles.
