The family of a "beautiful" woman who died after being hit by an ambulance have paid tribute to her.
Carrie Loughlin, believed to be from north Liverpool, was a pedestrian involved in a crash with an ambulance shortly after 10pm on Wednesday, March 16 on the A540, Parkgate Road in Mollington.
Paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service attempted to treat the woman but she was pronounced dead at the scene, Liverpool Echo reports.
No other injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved.
The ambulance is not believed to have been responding to an incident at the time of the crash.
Carrie's family paid tribute to her, calling her a "beloved daughter, sister and granddaughter".
They said: “We are heartbroken at the sudden passing of our beautiful Carrie.
"She was always so full of light and the love and laughter she brought us will never be forgotten.
"Carrie was a beloved daughter, sister and granddaughter and will be sorely missed by the many who loved and cherished her.”
The A540 Parkgate Road was closed in both directions after the crash, as recovery work and accident investigation took place.
It was shut from around 10pm until 4.10am on the morning of Thursday, March 17.
Following the incident, a spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "Shortly after 10pm on Wednesday, March 16, police were called to reports of a collision on the A540, Parkgate Road, in Mollington.
"Officers attended to the scene and found that there had been a collision between a female pedestrian and an ambulance.
"Sadly the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
"There were no reports of any other injuries.
"The ambulance is not believed to have been responding to an incident at the time of the collision.
"Enquiries in relation to the incident are in the early stages and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone with video footage which may aid the investigation.
