A post shared by the family on social media asked people to share their fond memories with Christopher on his Facebook page so they could 'go back and remember him together'.
They added: "We would like to sincerely and deeply thank every single friend and member of the community who helped in the search for our Chris, to every person who shared the appeal, to everyone continuing to support us at this time.
"It comforts us to know what such great friends Chris had and it is a huge testament to him. We appreciate all of you and your support in every way you feel to share with us at this time.
"We again thank you for the incredible support and comfort you give to our family and are forever grateful to you for being those special people who have and will continue to be part of Chris’s life."
Other tributes were paid on social media, as Jonathan Barr publicly shared: "Family is family, no matter the distance. Our hearts are broken, as you're gone far too soon. Any of the times we would have spent in the future together, will instead be spent sharing your memory, through those whose lives you touched the most."
Hannah Lees posted: "Devastating news, such a genuine, lovely person, always so kind and thoughtful. Chris you will be missed by so many. Our thoughts are with your mum and dad, family and friends."
As Phillipa Jayne Clover also paid tribute, writing: "My heart hurts. Life always takes the best souls," adding: "Chris Barlow was the nicest, funniest guy! Truly one in a million."
Marple Cricket Club and Mellor Football Club have also since paid tribute to Christopher following his death, who they described as 'one of the best'.

Love you mate."
A Mellor FC spokesperson tweeted: "It is with absolute great sadness that what we feared, has been confirmed. As a club we are absolutely heartbroken. Please respect family wishes at this moment in time and give them time to grieve. RIP Chris Barlow, one of the best, you will never be forgotten."
