Tribute to 'beautiful and kind' mum, 32, whose life was cut tragically short

A "beautiful and kind" mum died aged just 32 after overdosing on medication.

Victoria McIvor, also known as Vicky, was found unresponsive at her home in North Yorkshire on December 3.

She had two children, Joseph, nine, and George, five.

During an inquest into her death on Tuesday, March 1, the court heard she had died of an overdose of medication.

A post-mortem examination concluded the effects were likely exacerbated by the presence of other medication as well as Ms McIvor's history of epilepsy.

Northallerton's coroner's court heard the mum-of-two received various treatments and support for her mental health throughout her life, Yorkshire Live reports.

Ms McIvor was assessed by a mental health consultant on August 2 over issues with insomnia and flashbacks.

During an appointment with her GP in January last year, no thoughts of self-harm or suicide were recorded.

Police were called on December 3 after Ms McIvor's mum tried to call her daughter but it was her five-year-old grandson George who answered the phone saying he "couldn't wake her up".

Assistant coroner Jonathan Leach told the court : "From what I've read and heard it is clear that Vicky was a 32-year-old who lived at home with her child and had a loving and supportive family.

"She had issues with her mental health from an early age and on occasions received medication and on occasions received help from the appropriate services."

Mr Leach said he sees no evidence that Ms McIvor intended to take her own life and recorded a conclusion of drug related death.

He also thanked Ms McIvor's parents for attending the hearing and expressed his condolences to her family and friends.

Paying tribute to her daughter, mum Pam McIvor said Victoria would be remembered for her sense of fun and kindness.

She said: "Vicky experienced a few difficult years more recently, both physically and emotionally and was always grateful for the love and support of her family, and true friends.

"She had a sense of fun, her beauty and her kindness will be what we will remember about a life that was cut so tragically short."

She added: "Her love and devotion to the boys she adored was never in doubt, and Vicky worked incredibly hard to give them everything they needed.

"Vicky was a beautiful spirit and someone who brought smiles, fun, laughter and warmth to all of your lives, someone who you will all miss so deeply."
