Trial over SA vaccine rules next month

Deni Varnhagen is among six people challenging SA's vaccine orders in the Supreme Court (AAP)

A trial to challenge South Australia's COVID-19 vaccine mandates, involving a prominent women's AFL player, will be heard next month.

Adelaide Crows player Deni Varnhagen, who is also a nurse, is among six people challenging SA's vaccine orders in the Supreme Court.

Also involved in the action are another nurse, a child care worker, a teacher and two police officers.

Because of their occupations, they were subject to state government mandates requiring them to be double vaccinated.

At a directions hearing on Thursday, the court set down four days to hear the case starting on March 17.

Varnhagen was moved to the Crows' inactive list because of her decision not to be vaccinated.

Under AFL rules, all players and football staff also had to be fully vaccinated by December 17 last year.
