Jose Antonio Ibarra, the man accused of killing nursing student Laken Riley while she was jogging on the University of Georgia campus earlier this year, is set to appear in court today for the third day of his trial.
During the proceedings on Monday, a prosecuting attorney informed the judge that the state plans to conclude presenting its case by Tuesday. Ibarra's defense team, on the other hand, anticipates less than half a day of testimony from witnesses.
Last week, Ibarra made the decision to waive his right to a trial by jury and opted for a bench trial instead. In a bench trial, the judge will be responsible for determining Ibarra's guilt or innocence.
