Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride has been the team’s best player on the field this season. He has now been nominated for the NFL’s highest off-the-field honors.
The Cardinals announced that McBride was this year’s selection for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year.
It is an honor that recognizes excellence in play on the field combined with outstanding community service activities off of it.
With the team award, McBride will receive up to a $55,000 donation to the charity of his choice and wear a Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year helmet decal through the end of the season.
“So many of our players go above and beyond in terms of giving back and making a positive impact on our communities,” said Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill in the announcement released by the team. “Singling out one is always challenging but the work Trey has done in his three years as a Cardinal has been exceptional. Whether it’s visiting hospitals and schools, supporting youth programs and our military or simply giving back to those less fortunate, Trey is truly worthy of this honor for the commitment he makes and the example that he sets.”
He joins 31 other team nominees with the honors.
All 32 team winners will be highlighted as finalists and recognized for their important work during the week leading up to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. The 2024 “Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year” will be announced during NFL Honors, an awards special to air on FOX on Thursday, February 6. The winner will receive up to a $265,000 donation to the charity of his choice.
