Trevor Noah has addressed the furore surrounding Kanye West's cancelled Grammys performance, after it was suggested he may have had a hand in the decision.
The 38-year-old comedian wrote on Twitter earlier today: "I said counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye, " after the rapper was ditched from next month's ceremony, following Instagram posts about his ex Kim Kardashian's new boyfriend Pete Davidson and throwing racial slurs at Noah on the platform.
Musician The Game hinted Noah, who will host the ceremony, may have been behind the decision to axe the dad-of-four, but Noah seemingly addressed this accusation in today's tweet.
Trevor has chastised Kanye, 44, for his behaviour and furious tirades on Instagram, but a source close to the political commentator told CNN that he had nothing to do with West being axed from the the Grammys.
'"Trevor never asked the Grammys to ban Kanye from performing. He was not offended by Kanye's Instagram post and Trevor responded on Instagram. The notion that Trevor or his team asked the Grammys to ban Kanye is ridiculous," the source said.
Speculation is rife that organisers pulled the plug on Kanye’s appearance amid concerns they could be seen to endorse his outrageous behaviour.

Such antics include him accusing Kim of accusing him of being on drugs, hiring a hit man against her, and for repeated threats against Pete.
A rep for the rapper confirmed to Variety that West has been barred from the line-up due to his "concerning online behaviour".
Fellow musician The Game, real name Jayceon Taylor, has lashed out at the decision – which came just hours after Kanye was temporarily banned from Instagram due to his explosive social media posts.
The Game has hinted that he suspects Trevor may have blocked the musician from attending.
He wrote online: “The Grammys have at the last minute decided to pull @kanyewest from performing on the show as if we didn’t know it was coming
“Could be because @trevornoah is hosting and there was a conversation held amongst his team & the academy that led to the decision or because Ye’s account was suspended just days ago for reasons unknown especially in a world where all the negativities of the world can be found on the same app with no repercussions or suspensions.
“Speak your mind in this country for yourself, family or your people & you’re ostracized immediately & if you push them hard enough they will stop at no ends to try and put an end to you as a whole."
“I can’t sleep at night knowing I was quiet about issues burning holes in my heart or narratives incorrectly pushed by the mass agenda to create a mind set that the person at hand is krazy or has issues internally that are beyond repair.”
