Trevor Lawrence escaped serious injury when he was twisted down on a sack in Week 13, but the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback is dealing with a toe injury that has his status for Week 14 in question.
On Tuesday, Lawrence was spotted wearing a covering on his left foot in a photo of him at a Jacksonville-area salon.
A day later, Jaguars coach Doug Pederson said that an MRI showed it’s a sprained toe for Lawrence and he explained the covering on the quarterback’s foot.
“It’s not a cast, it’s more of just a protective shoe is really what it is,” Pederson said Wednesday. “It’s really just to keep his foot immobilized right now just for healing.”
Lawrence will sit out practice Wednesday, according to Pederson, and could miss more time ahead of a matchup against the AFC South-leading Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
“We’ve still got several days before the game, but he’s tough and he’ll do everything he can — I know — in his power to try to be out there. But we’ll take it day by day,” Pederson said.
Lawrence hasn’t missed a game so far in his NFL career. After suffering his injury on the final play before halftime Sunday, Lawrence returned in the third quarter without missing a snap.
