Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has given a six-word response after his somewhat bizarre ranking by Good Morning Football analyst Kyle Brandt.
On the prominent NFL morning show, Brandt ranked all AFC quarterbacks into tiers - with Patrick Mahomes being atop of his own with Joe Burrow and Josh Allen below and Aaron Rodgers, Justin Herbert and Lamar Jackson in the third tier.
The consensus opinion across the NFL, quite rightly appears to be that the above names are the best quarterbacks in the AFC - with one big name omission.
The number one draft pick from the 2021 class Trevor Lawrence did have a rough rookie season, but bounced back with an incredibly impressive sophomore season in the NFL - with many now believing Lawrence is deserving of being in that conversation.
PFF recently ranked Lawrence as the eighth best quarterback in the league, with the ability to break into the top five if he builds on his solid play in 2022.
However, Brandt did not see it that way as he named Lawrence in the lowest possible category - putting him behind the likes of Jimmy Garoppolo and Russell Wilson and level with Kenny Pickett, Mac Jones and Tua Tagovailoa.
It seems a harsh evaluation to put Lawrence in the same category as Pickett and Jones, who mightily struggled last season, while Tagovailoa had been in an extremely quarterback-friendly system.
And after seeing the list himself, Lawrence responded on Twitter by saying: "The game ain’t played on paper".
Lawrence lead the Jaguars to the playoffs with a fairly below average roster, before winning a playoff game as they defeated Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Jags were knocked out of the playoffs but Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, in a one-score game in which Lawrence again impressed in.
The Jags will come into the 2023 season as the favourites to win the division after bringing in star wide receiver Calvin Ridley - giving Lawrence a healthy option of targets.
