Chelsea have exercised the option to recall defender Trevoh Chalobah from his season-long loan at Crystal Palace.
Trevoh Chalobah Returns To Chelsea
Trevoh Chalobah has been recalled to Chelsea after the Blues activated the clause to cut his loan spell at Crystal Palace short.
The Eagles originally signed Chalobah on a season-long deal in August. The centre-back made 14 appearances in all competitions for the south Londoners.
Chalobah returns to Cobham with immediate effect and therefore won’t be part of Oliver Glasner’s side to play Leicester City on Wednesday.
Instead, the former England U21 star will link back up with his parent club and boss Enzo Maresca. The Italian wants Chalobah back at Stamford Bridge to help provide defensive cover.
Wesley Fofana is set to miss the rest of the season owing to a hamstring injury suffered against Aston Villa in December. Benoit Badiashile is also out until mid-February.
In the summer, Chalobah was considered surplus by Maresca. The likes of Levi Colwill, Axel Disasi, Tosin Adarabioyo, Fofana and Badiashile were all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Will Trevoh Chalobah Play Against Wolves?
Now, the strain on the backline has proven too heavy a burden so Chalobah is set for a surprise reinstatement. He has previously been deemed an ‘important’ squad member.
After a number of promising performances at Selhurst Park, Chalobah has a chance to impress further when given the chance with the west Londoners.
The Blues are understood to be happy with how Chalobah has performed under the guidance of Glasner and his staff. However, Chalobah will need to get used to playing in a back four.
In south London, Chalobah predominantly featured in a back three. That was how Glasner formatted his defenders but that differs from Maresca’s style.
On Monday, Chalobah is expected to be back in the matchday squad for the visit of Wolves. Ahead of the game, the best football betting sites in the UK have all the latest markets.
