A statement has been issued by trentbarton after one of its buses caught fire on a main road near Nottingham. A red arrow bus caught fire shortly before 9am on Friday, August 5, on the A52 westbound near Pride Park, Derby.
The bus was in service when the fire broke out, and, after disembarking, all passengers were safely collected by an Ilkeston flyer bus. A trentbarton spokesperson said: "One of our red arrows was involved in a fire on the A52 near Pride Park in Derby this morning.
“The driver safely evacuated all the passengers and there were no injuries. We will thoroughly investigate the cause of the incident. We apologies to customers who were on the coach and to other customers who were affected by subsequent delays.” It has been reported that there are no injuries from the incident.
Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service dealt with the incident and left the scene at 9.45am. Derbyshire Police remained at the scene to handle the congested traffic that had built up due to the fire. The red arrow buses run frequently between Nottingham and Derby and well into the night.
