The 49ers tried to tell us that Brock Purdy’s elbow injury was the difference in last year’s NFC title game. At the time, it seemed a little silly, considering the Eagles won by 24 points. After Sunday’s embarrassing rematch in Philadelphia — where San Francisco scored touchdowns on six consecutive possessions in a 42-19 blowout — maybe the 49ers had a point.
Perennial All-Pro tackle Trent Williams seems to think so.
When asked about what the 49ers thought of the Eagles in the postgame, Williams proclaimed he had “full confidence” his team would dominate their rivals because they had a healthy Brock Purdy.
Phew. I mean, to be fair, the proof looks like it’s in the pudding!
"I had full confidence that we would have this type of game from the jump … We got a quarterback, so it made it a lot easier this time." 👀

Trent Williams with the understatement of the year: “When we have a quarterback, we’re a pretty good team.”

Considering this is the NFL’s best rivalry right now, I have a feeling we’re getting a playoff rubber match this January. But for now, the 49ers have the bragging rights, and they’re undoubtedly feeling vindicated about last year’s postseason. I don’t blame them.
