Trent Alexander-Arnold set to beat Brazil icon's landmark inspired by Pep Guardiola

Trent Alexander-Arnold is on course for a record-breaking season at Liverpool after already hitting 17 assists in all competitions.

With Liverpool securing the Carabao Cup and qualifying for the Champions League quarter finals, the right-back has been a vital cog in the success so far this season.

Liverpool's number 66 has catapulted himself alongside the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah as being one of the Reds' most important players.

The 23-year-old is just four assists away from equalling the record for most assists in a season by a defender - currently held by Barcelona star Dani Alves.

The wing-back notched 21 assists in the 2010-11 season for the Blaugrana, where he was coached by current Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

Alexander-Arnold has adapted his game this season and has even been given a run out in midfield by England boss Gareth Southgate.

However, those midfield shouts have now died down - why would you move the best right-back in the world out of his position?

Alexander-Arnold can now regularly be seen in-field for Liverpool, where he is able to get on the ball and use his incredible passing ability to pick out one of the forward three.

It's been said on numerous occasions - it's like having Kevin De Bruyne at right-back.

Liverpool have one trophy to their name and are in with a good shout of three more. What is clear is that Alexander-Arnold will be key to every one of them.
