Trent Alexander-Arnold's warning to Chelsea after Liverpool reach Carabao Cup final

Trent Alexander-Arnold has told Chelsea that Liverpool are desperate to win silverware in front of fans after setting up a Carabao cup final clash.

Jurgen Klopp's side saw off Arsenal at the Emirates in their semi-final thanks to goals in either half from Diogo Jota.

The two teams had drawn the first-leg at Anfield but the Merseyside outfit will now prepare for a final showdown with the Blues next month at Wembley.

Liverpool and Chelsea have already squared off twice this term.

Both games ended in draws with the most recent a 2-2- stalemate at Stamford Bridge.

There will be no sharing the spoils in February however and Alexander-Arnold knows the club need to deliver.

He told Sky Sports: "It has been a while to lift a trophy and it is good for us to be in a final. There are still 90 minutes to do that against a top side."

Chelsea have been in a poor run of form of late, which has seen them slip out of the title picture.

Nevertheless they, like Liverpool, are still battling on four fronts and the Carabao Cup, as always, represents the first chance of silverware.

Alexander-Arnold laid on both goals for Jota, who continues to impress for the Reds.

Klopp named a strong XI having previously given academy stars a chance but the Liverpool right-back felt they were good value for their win.

He continued: "Looking forward to it (the final) a lot, good for us to get there and what we expect. We put in good performances on this run, we have had young players but managed to win the games. We performed well tonight and what we deserve.

"We never gave them too many chances and kept them at bay. Diogo Jota's first goal was outstanding and so was the second.

"He is a world class player in the best form at the club so far, hopefully more goals from him. Hopefully we can win the final."

Alexander-Arnold also confessed that he keeps a tally of his assists.

"Of course," he said. "The number is good and the standard I set myself. I want to create and provide for the team, I created two more today and whoever is on the end to finish it off."

Virgil van Dijk also weighed in, insisting the Reds were deserving winners.

He told the BBC : "I don't feel like it is a statement but it was a good performance and have shown it throughout the season. We played very well, controlled the game and stayed calm and cool.

"We survived the storm especially with the fans behind them. Totally deserve going to Wembley."
