Trent Alexander-Arnold's brilliant response to Mohamed Salah's new Liverpool deal

Trent Alexander-Arnold responded brilliantly to the news that Mohamed Salah has signed a new three-year deal to stay at Anfield - admitting he can't wait to win more trophies with his teammate.

Following a lengthy dispute between the Reds and Salah, who is a three-time Premier League golden boot winner, the 30-year-old put pen to paper and extended his stay on Merseyside until 2025 on Friday, putting him on a £350,000-a-week salary and making him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

The news comes ahead of players returning to their clubs for the start of pre-season training, with Liverpool kicking off their season on July 30 in the Community Shield, as well as having friendlies this month against Manchester United, Crystal Palace, RB Leipzig, RB Salzburg and Strasbourg.

While on his off-season break, Alexander-Arnold has been in attendance at Silverstone for Sunday’s British Grand Prix, his first-ever visit to Britain’s home of Formula One.

Alexander-Arnold was interviewed ahead of the race and asked about his thoughts of Salah’s contract extension, the 23-year-old right-back admitted his delight and is targeting more trophies during their time together at the club.

“Of course, of course,” Alexander-Arnold told Sky Sports when asked for his thoughts about Salah’s contract extension. “Hopefully a few more years with him to win more trophies.”

Liverpool’s 2021/22 season saw them lift the FA Cup and Carabao Cup titles following penalty shootout wins over Chelsea in both finals, but they narrowly missed out on the quadruple, losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid and missing out on the Premier League title on the final day of the campaign to City.

Jurgen Klopp’s side will have a new feel to them in attack this season following their transfer business so far. They sold winger Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich before completing a £65million move to acquire Uruguayan international striker Darwin Nunez.

As well as Mane, Liverpool have had a number of transfer exits this summer. Divock Origi has joined AC Milan on a free transfer, while Japanese attacker Takumi Minamino has joined French outfit Monaco in a deal worth up to £15m including add-ons.

Nunez is one of three signings so far made by Klopp this summer, having also acquired right-back Calvin Ramsey from Aberdeen and teenage attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho from Fulham.

Last season Salah scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists from his 35 Premier League appearances, a tally that put him joint-top of the league’s top scorers charts with Tottenham's Son Heung-Min and the sole winner of the award for most assists.

Second on the assists chart for the whole division was Salah’s club teammate Alexander-Arnold, narrowly beating the Egyptian with 12 Premier League goal creations.
