Trent Alexander-Arnold has admitted there is a feeling of excitement at Liverpool following the signing of Cody Gakpo.
The Reds confirmed the arrival of Gakpo on Wednesday evening, with the 23-year-old penning a five-and-a-half-year deal at Anfield to end his lifelong association with PSV.
Gakpo has been in fine form at club level this season, scoring nine goals and providing 12 assists in the Eredivisie, and caught the eye for the Netherlands at the World Cup in Qatar.

Supporters are certainly eager to see the versatile forward in action, and Alexander-Arnold has made clear members of the first-team are also encouraged by Liverpool's latest piece of recruitment.
"It’s always good and always exciting as players to see a new lad come in, especially someone has proven himself on the big stages," the Reds' right-back told Sky Sports ahead of Friday evening's meeting with Leicester City at Anfield. "He got goals and assists at the World Cup, so it’s exciting. I’m sure he’ll be excited to come join us also so it’s always exciting for us to have someone new in and around us."
After securing three points on Boxing Day against Aston Villa, Alexander-Arnold added Liverpool are looking to build on their impressive form displayed prior to the World Cup break.
"I think it was very important we got some wins before we went away. Going into that break (World Cup), we assessed it as just getting into it with a few wins, if we could. It wasn’t our greatest run of form, but we got what we needed from it. Coming back, the lads are fresh and raring to go. We were ready for the game against Villa, got the three points and are now looking to build on momentum."
