Trent Alexander-Arnold Injury Update: 'Serious' Hamstring Issue

Liverpool fear that star right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold suffered a serious injury in Saturday’s 2-0 win vs Aston Villa.

Reds boss Arne Slot confirmed in his post-match press conference that he fears the worst for the player, whose Anfield contract expires at the end of the season.

The Liverpool vice-captain limped off in the first half with what looked like a hamstring issue, making him a serious doubt for England during the upcoming international break.

Trent Alexander-Arnold Injury Update

Slot told the press:

“It is difficult to say how serious it is but it is always serious if a player goes out in the first half. Not because I didn’t like him but he asked for it himself, he asked for it because he felt something.

“So that is first of all not a good sign. It is always difficult so close after the game to tell you exactly what it is but let’s wait and see. I would be surprised if we will see him playing for the England national team this week but hopefully he can.”

Alexander-Arnold missed almost the whole month of September in 2023 with a hamstring injury and this could be an unfortunate reoccurrence – but the timing, coming right before club football breaks off, will allow the club to complete a full diagnosis.

If the player is set for an extended period on the sidelines, it couldn’t come at a worse time for Liverpool –  who are gearing up to face Real Madrid in the Champions League before the end of the month.

According to the best football betting sites, Madrid (9/2) are the second favourites to win the competition and Liverpool (6/1) aren’t far behind so this promises to be an intriguing match-up.

More clarity on Alexander-Arnold’s situation is expected to come over the coming days as team doctors get a proper look at his injury, but the signs don’t look positive so far.
