Trent Alexander-Arnold explains why Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is underrated

Trent Alexander-Arnold has heaped praise on Marcus Rashford, describing him as an "outstanding player" who is capable of deciding games for Manchester United and England.

Rashford lost his starting position at Old Trafford last season, but he benefited from an injury-free pre-season in the summer and he's hit the ground running with Erik ten Hag in charge, contributing eight goals and three assists this term.

The forward is playing with a smile on his face again after rediscovering his strongest form and it was no surprise to see Rashford make England's squad for the Qatar World Cup.

Rashford scored from the bench against Iran and he scored two against Wales when starting in that match earlier this week. He's currently the joint-top scorer at the World Cup and he's suddenly in contention to win the Golden Boot.

Liverpool's Alexander-Arnold recently discussed Rashford's qualities with talkSPORT and he admitted he thinks he's underrated.

“Excitement”, Alexander-Arnold said when asked what Rashford brings. “That's the first thing, when he steps on the pitch, the first you think is that he is going to use his pace, his speed to get in behind to get at people. He’s skilful, he can score and create.

"As defenders, you don’t want to play against him because you’re worried about what he is going to do. If he's going to score, if he's going to create, so to have him on our team, you know what defenders are thinking.

"He’s an outstanding player. He’s underrated, I think he's someone who can win games for club and country – he’s shown that before and I'm sure will continue to do that. He's also someone that can help us win this tournament."
