Residents at a Lanarkshire retirement village have planted a tree as part of the Queen's Jubilee Green Canopy Project.
Locals welcomed Deputy Lord Lieutenant of the region Margaret Morton to celebrate the joyous occasion in honouring the monarch at Lauder Court in Hamilton.
The initiative was created to mark Her Majesty's 70-year reign on the throne, inviting people across the country to plant a tree for the Jubilee, showing respect for her service to the country.
The Hamilton complex now has a newly-planted willow tree in its grounds with a special plaque with the words "Willow tree planted by the residents of Lauder Court for the Queen's Green Canopy 2022."
And the Jubilee celebrations don't stop there at Lauder Court. Residents now look forward to an afternoon tea which will be held on Sunday, June 5, where 45 residents will be in attendance.
They have been helped by generous donations from local firms McCarthy/Stone, Morrison’s and Tunnock's - ensuring the event is well catered for.
The tree itself was planted by residents Ina Archiebald and Willie Wotherspoon, who were helped by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant.
Lauder Court President Eleanor Goodwin said: "Everyone was very proud. The tree will be there for future generations when we're no longer here, so it's a nice thing to have for the future.
"We're all very excited about the Jubilee tea party on Sunday, and we're very grateful to the companies who donated kindly for this to go ahead.
"And our committee has been very good. We're delighted to have been able to do this project.
"We've got decorations up with balloons, flags and lots of happy decorations so the lounge will be looking great and attractive on the day."
