Tree blocking road in Ruddington moved by neighbours after strong winds

A tree that was blocking a major road in Nottinghamshire was sorted by neighbours who say that coming together as a community was 'brilliant'.

At around 10pm February 16, a tree, supposedly knocked down by the high winds, fell onto Loughborough Road, Ruddington.

Nearby residents and motorists came together to help move it before the council came to clear up the tree debris.

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous, says one neighbour got a chain saw out to help.

He said: "It took us about half an hour and all ten of us moved the tree to the side of the road.

"One neighbour cut through the branches with a chain saw as the sheer weight of it was too heavy.

"After that we moved it.

"It was about coming together for our community, we all pulled together, it's brilliant."

Loughborough Road is now open in both directions.
