The Philadelphia Phillies took Game 1 of their National League Division Series with the Braves with a hard-fought 3-0 victory in Atlanta on Saturday.
The biggest play of the game came from the man who the Phillies gave $300 million to last winter - Trea Turner. The former Dodger made one of the coolest defensive plays in the eighth inning when made a diving stop on a ground ball and was somehow able to get enough on his backhand toss to second to start a double play to end the inning.
The Braves would have scored one run on the play if not for Turner, and they would have been in a good position to maybe even tie things up or take the lead if the inning hadn’t come to an abrupt end.
Look at this effort from Turner:

That toss to second was absolutely incredible.

That is a LONG way for an option toss. Amazing. https://t.co/WwS6QGyaSp pic.twitter.com/U6eQAavHVz

Woke up still thinking about how far Trea Turner had to backhand toss this ball- with some zip on it. Insane. https://t.co/WwS6QGyaSp
