Trayce Jackson-Davis shares thoughts on being picked late in the draft

Trayce Jackson-Davis was selected with the 57th pick in the 2023 NBA draft. Despite his late selection, he has quickly established himself as an important part of the Golden State Warriors roster. The rookie big man has also impressed over the past two games, where he has recorded back-to-back double-doubles when coming off the bench.

Following his latest performance, Jackson-Davis discussed his late draft selection with the media. He discussed how he was surprised to slide so far down the draft even though he felt he had improved his all-around game during his collegiate career.

“I was very surprised, honestly,” Jackson-Davis said. “I thought that in my senior year of college, I had added a lot to my game, whether it be the passing, the blocking shots, rebounding at a high level, or finishing. Basically everything.”

Against the Wizards, Jackson-Davis provided 10 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block in 24 minutes of playing time. He also shot 71.4% from the field, as his size and scoring ability gave the Warriors’ second unit an interior presence.

Jackson-Davis is quickly establishing himself as a key member of Steve Kerr‘s rotation. He is slowly seeing more playing time and is consistently making an impact when given the opportunity. If the rookie continues to play at his current level, he will be another impressive young talent the Warriors have at their disposal moving forward.
