The 2022 NFL Draft will be here in 23 days, and the Jacksonville Jaguars are on the clock to start it off. They’ve been connected to several prospects when it comes to what to do with pick No. 1, but Aidan Hutchinson seems to be the front-runner to be their guy.
However, Travon Walker, one of the defensive linemen for the 2021 national champion Georgia Bulldogs, is a name who has been hot the last few weeks, and some think he has the chance to go first overall. When considering the traits he’d bring to the table and how general manager Trent Baalke likes long-armed players, he certainly shouldn’t be ruled out.
Like many of the draft’s top prospects, Walker will be visiting the Jags and all of the other teams in the top-6 of the draft order. Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson was on the report first and initially said Walker would visit the top-5 teams in the order. However, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said the Carolina Panthers would get a visit, too, which means he will visit the top-6 teams.

Walker ended the 2021 season with 37 total tackles and six sacks. He proved to be able to handle a variety of roles in the process playing at various spots on the defensive line and was also able to help in coverage, too. Most importantly, though, he’d be able to help the Jags’ run defense (had a 73.3 run defense grade) which ranked 23rd, while also bolstering the pass-rush, too.
Walker’s name has caught fire since the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine. He impressed in the process by running a 4.51 in the 40-yard dash and a 35.5″ vertical jump. Those figures were good for third and seventh, respectfully, at his position.
