Travis Scott concert crush witnesses claim crowd was 'feral' with victims trampled on

Survivors of a horrifying crush at a Travis Scott concert have claimed some in the crowd were "feral" and trampled on victims.

Describing the horrendous incident a witness said that one of the eight who died passed away in his arms after the deadly stampede in Houston, Texas.

The tragedy happened during a performance by rapper Travis Scott at a music festival he launched.

More than a dozen people were rushed to hospital and at least eight people died in the crush at Astroworld Fest on Friday.

A 10-year-old was among those hurt, officials said.

Festivalgoers have gone on to describe the chaos as people surged to the front, with footage showing fans dancing on ambulances trying to reach those hurt.

Speaking to CNN witness Selena Beltran said she saw the crowd act like "animals" at the event.

She said she struggled to breathe as the crowd tightened and saw people trampling over unconscious people on the ground.

She said: "I fell backwards and it felt like it was the end for me. To think that's how I'll die, I was so scared. I did not know what to do.

"It was all happening so fast, but so slow and I couldn't react. I just screamed.

"I was shocked to see people act so inconsiderate and feral. It was insane to see so many just run others over like wild animals.

"People did not care, they still tried to squeeze through just to get to the front without thinking of the consequences and who it would affect."

She said looking around she thought 'there was little humanity in that crowd' and said she saw bodies of people she had performed CPR on being taken away by medics.

Another man who was at the concert, Billy Nasser, said he saw people unable to breathe and call out for help.

He told the outlet: "I picked some kid up and his eyes rolled to the back of his head, so I checked his pulse. I knew he was dead. I checked the people around me. And I just had to leave him there, there was nothing I could do. I had to keep going.

"Kids were dropping left and right."

An ICU nurse who went to the show, Madeline Eskins, said she had "never seen anything like it".

Scott was onstage performing a set which included a guest appearance from rapper Drake when the fatal crush occurred.
