Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Patriots coach Bill Belichick shared a special moment on the field following Kansas City’s 27–17 win over New England in Week 15.
Postgame handshakes aren’t often notable unless a conversation appears to be more than simply exchanging pleasantries. That applied to Kelce and Belichick, who spoke to one another for longer than a “congratulations” or “good game” would take. That naturally sparked curiosity regarding what the two said to each other.
On the latest episode of his New Heights podcast, Kelce revealed what he said to the legendary Patriots coach, whom many expect to move on from New England after this season. Much of the sentiment echoed what he told reporters following last Sunday’s game. Kelce was paying respect.
“I just mentioned how much I respect him and how much it’s always the biggest challenge I go up against in the National Football League is going up against one of his defenses,” Kelce said.

“I just wanted to make sure he heard that from my mouth, man,” Kelce added. “Because it’s been a pleasure going up against him all these years.”
In six career games against Belichick’s Patriots defenses, Kelce has compiled 33 catches for 358 yards–an average of 10.85 yards per reception–and one touchdown.

Co-host Jason Kelce then asked his brother how he felt about Belichick possibly taking over as coach of the Chiefs’ AFC West rival Chargers and got a decidedly NSFW response.
“I don’t want a f------ good coach to f------ come in my division, dude,” Kelce responded. “Get the f— outta here. I hope they f------ hire some jabroni, man.”
