There isn’t a team in the NFL that wouldn’t love to have Aaron Donald on the roster. Travis Kelce, for one, would love to have Donald on the Chiefs as they try to become the first team to win three Super Bowls in a row.
On the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Travis and Jason Kelce talked about Donald’s remarkable career, and the Chiefs tight end had a pitch for the recently retired Ram.
“Shoutout to AD. Unbelievable career. If you want to win one more Super Bowl, we’ll probably have some availability somewhere in December,” Kelce said.
Donald has done nothing to leave the door open for an eventual return to football, saying in that he no longer has the passion to play the game and he’s “burned out.” Of course, he wouldn’t be the first player to come out of retirement, something Tom Brady and Eric Weddle both did – among several others.
If Donald were to return, it wouldn’t be as easy as a team simply signing him. He has one year left on his contract so the Rams retain the rights, forcing any team that wants him to make a trade – like the Bucs and Patriots did with Rob Gronkowski.
No one should hold their breath in hopes of Donald returning, but stranger things have happened.
