Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce wasn’t about to let a third-and-22 stifle his team more than it had to during Monday Night Football against the visiting New Orleans Saints.
Trying to overcome some rotten odds to convert the drive for a first down, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw the ball to Kelce to get as much yardage as possible out of the play.
Rather than settle for getting tackled to set up a field goal, Kelce threw a perfect lateral pass to Chiefs running back Samaje Perine to get even more yardage for Kansas City.
Perine got the lane he needed to keep the play going to set up a workable fourth-and-1, which underscored how impressive Kelce’s lateral pass was for the Chiefs.
