Travelodge's latest sale includes stays in listed buildings from £9.50 per person

You could explore new corners of the UK this Coronation bank holiday weekend in rooms from £9.50 per person per night.

Travelodge is continuing its £38 room sale, which works out at less than a tenner each when split between four.

The rooms are perfect for families looking to have the weekend away - and there are ways to save on food too. In fact, the brand's £8.99 ‘all-you-can-eat’ breakfast means every child under 15 eating free with every paying adult - not a bad way to get ready for a big day out.

The three-day Coronation weekend is arguably the ideal time to take a short break to somewhere nostalgic, the seaside or one of the UK’s famous historic cities you've not visited before.

If you are really in the royal mood, then stopping off at one of the thirteen Grade II listed hotels in Travelodge's estate may be a good idea.

Travelodge has a number of hotels in listed buildings (Travelodge)

One of the properties is in the Royal town of Leamington Spa.

Queen Victoria stayed in room 107 of the hotel and used room 108 as her dressing room, while the hotel also features a stunning stained glass window at the top of the sweeping wooden staircase.

Durham Travelodge is another uniquely listed hotel and used to be the Station Masters house, with both Durham Cathedral and the Castle are a short walk away.

Travelodge also has lots of hotels offering sea views, including Rhyl Seafront Travelodge hotel, where every room looks out to a sweeping view of the sea.

The Wallasey New Brighton Travelodge hotel is also in a stunning seaside location in the trendy Marine Point development.

At Scarborough St Nicholas Travelodge guests enjoy fantastic views across the coastline to South Bay beach from Scarborough Castle.

For spectacular countryside retreats with a monastic twist, Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent might be worth a visit.

The hotel chain is offering rooms for £38 (Travelodge)

The Travelodge hotel there has views across the common and is perfectly located for both a shopping trip and a walk in the countryside.

A number of the Firm have visited the town over the years, with King Edward VI offering it the royal title in 1908.

In the hotel in Hereford, Travelodge rooms have great views of both the cathedral and across to the Pennine mountains and the River Wye is a short stroll away.
