Travel disruption warning as two Lanarkshire roads set to close for five days next month

Motorists are warned to expect travel disruption as two Monklands roads get set for five-day closures next month.

Carriageway resurfacing works will see the town's South Circular Road (A89) shut from July 4-8.

The closure will be from the Fountain roundabout to Whittington Street and motorists will be able to take Sunnyside Road (B803), Dunbeth Road (B803) and Main Street (B804) as alternative routes.

And Sykeside Road in Airdrie will close from July 11-15, between Cromarty Road and Lanark Avenue.

This is for the completion of carriageway resurfacing and diversions for drivers will include the A89 Deedes Street, the B753 Locks Street, Sikeside Street and Paddock Street.

Meanwhile, a Coatbridge road is closing for a month from Monday, July 4, to allow for drainage installation works.

Neidpath Avenue will shut between the extended kerbline of Hermitage Crescent eastwards to its termination until Sunday, August 7, when displayed by signs.

Motorists are warned there will be no alternative routes in place throughout the closure, although “vehicular and pedestrian access will be maintained where practicable”.
