Temporary travel chaos hit the North East after the Metro was brought to a standstill.
It was announced on Tyne and Wear Metro's Twitter account at 12.37pm on Sunday that a power dip at South Gosforth had brought the network to a halt, just when many Newcastle United fans would have been travelling or getting ready to board trains ahead of the Premier League clash at St James' Park against Fulham at 2pm.
And though the trains are now back up and running, it is with delays of up to thirty minutes. There are also issues with lifts and ticket machines at some stations on the network, including Haymarket and Monument in Newcastle city centre.

Escalators are operating at a reduced capacity at both stations, with Haymarket exit only and drivers encouraging passengers to alight at either Jesmond or Newcastle Central Station for those going to the match or the city centre.
A spokesperson for Metro told ChronicleLive that engineers are working on escalators in Monument and Haymarket but the fault is connected to a "ripple effect" from the power dip rather than the escalators malfunctioning.
