There was chaos on the roads in south Manchester on Tuesday night (December 6) after Morocco's shock win against Spain in the World Cup. Hundreds of fans flooded Wilmslow Road in Rusholme in celebration following the result.
Traffic was gridlocked and buses had to divert for the remainder of the evening as the huge crowds marched along the main road, which leads to Oxford Road and is one of the busiest bus routes through to Manchester city centre.
Videos shared on social media show hundreds of people chanting as they walked along Wilmslow Road, with the red Moroccan flag being waved in the sky by many after the country knocked Spain out of the World Cup in penalties.

Cars pipped their horns as crowds chanted and cheered, with some fans even seen standing on car roofs in video clips circulating on social media.
Buses were forced to divert as the crowds paraded the streets, with many others taking to social media and claiming that fireworks were set off among the celebrations. Stagecoach announced that no stops through Rusholme would be served due to the celebrations.
Stagecoach Manchester tweeted on Tuesday night: "Wilmslow Road Services. Due to football fans celebrating in Rusholme, we're diverting (To outer destinations) via Hathersage Rd. Upper Brook St, Anson Rd, Dickenson Rd. (To Manchester) Via Platt La, Lloyd St South, Upper Lloyd St, Moss La East. Stops in Rusholme won't be served."
GoNorthWest buses also confirmed diversions were in place on their services 'because of a demonstration in Rusholme', with Wilmslow Road becoming 'gridlocked' as mammoth crowds paraded the streets.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that they were made aware of the incident at around 7.30pm on Tuesday. They said the groups later dispersed and left the area peacefully.
A spokesperson said: "We are aware of this incident and it was reported to us around 7:30pm this evening. The group of 30-40 males and females were monitored by our officers and have since dispersed and left the area peacefully."
