Football fans heading to this weekend’s Scottish Cup semi-finals at Hampden Park have been handed a timely travel boost, with ScotRail confirming additional trains and extra seats to help supporters get to and from the national stadium.
The rail operator will bolster services between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida on both Saturday and Sunday, aiming to ease the expected matchday crowds for the blockbuster semi-final clashes.
Hearts and Aberdeen will kick off the semi-final weekend on Saturday, April 19, with the sides going head-to-head at 12.30pm. The following day, St Johnstone will take on holders Celtic, with a 3pm start.
To manage the large crowds, queuing systems will be in place at Glasgow Central and Mount Florida across the weekend.

Aberdeen fans travelling to the stadium on Saturday will queue for services to King's Park via the main concourse at Glasgow Central, while Hearts supporters will use the carriage driveway entrance on Hope Street for trains to Mount Florida.
Following the final whistle, Aberdeen fans will return via King's Park, while Hearts fans will head back through Mount Florida.
On Sunday, St Johnstone and Celtic supporters are being advised to travel via Mount Florida both before and after the match.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail’s customer operations director, said: "ScotRail is looking forward to helping fans travel to Hampden to cheer on their side in the men’s Scottish Cup semi-finals."
"We’ll be doing all we can to help you travel to the game as hassle-free as possible, which includes more seats and services to and from Mount Florida."
"Queuing systems will be in place before and after the matches, so please make sure you know where to go, and our staff will also be on hand to direct you."
Campbell also encouraged supporters to plan ahead, adding: "Buying your return tickets in advance as mTicket on the ScotRail app will reduce your need to queue, and help your journey run smoothly."
With extra services and staff on hand, the rail provider is hoping to make the matchday experience smoother for thousands of travelling fans heading to Glasgow for one of the highlights of the Scottish football calendar.
