Trapped woman airlifted to hospital after single car crash

A woman was airlifted to hospital after a serious single car crash.

Emergency services were called to reports of a single vehicle collision shortly before 4pm on Thursday, March 16 on the A499 near Pwllheli, North Wales. Two ambulances were called to the scene as well as an air ambulance and the fire service.

Once at the scene officers found a woman was trapped inside her car. After being freed she was airlifted to Aintree Hospital, NorthWalesLive reports.

North Wales Police have warned that the road will be closed whilst accident investigation work takes place at the scene. A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue said: "We received a call in regards to a Road Traffic Collision shortly before 4.00pm on Thursday, March 16.

"We attended with two appliances, one from Nefyn and another from Pwllheli due to a person being trapped in the vehicle, we isolated the vehicle to ensure it was safe for emergency services.

"One female was taken to hospital via air ambulance."
