An investigation is currently underway following a midair collision at Reagan National Airport. The newly sworn-in transportation secretary, Sean Duffy, expressed his surprise at facing a major crisis just hours into his new role.
In a social media post, Duffy mentioned that while this was not the expected start to his tenure, he believes in being where he is meant to be. He also shared that he has met with the families of the victims of the plane crash and intends to visit the Federal Aviation Administration command center and recovery hangar.

Duffy assured the public that he will provide regular updates on the situation and any other matters falling under the transportation department's purview. He emphasized his commitment to transparency and keeping the families and the public informed.
Furthermore, the transportation secretary revealed that he is working on a plan to address the issues within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to prevent such incidents in the future.
