Transgender couple hit back at trolls after transitioning and trying for baby

A transgender couple has been forced to defend their relationship after transitioning and trying for a baby. Robin, 25, and his partner Davonny, 21, have put a pause on their hormone therapy to be able to conceive a child 'naturally'.

However, it has left critics questioning 'Why did you guys transition in the first place', as Robin will be the one carrying and giving birth to their baby. Robin, who is female to male transgender, has been mentally preparing for pregnancy, admitting seeing a "big belly" could give him dysphoria.

Speaking to YouTube channel Love Don't Judge, he said: "I was pregnant for about a month-and-a-half - I went to the doctor and found out I'd had a miscarriage.

"I was crying, I was in a lot of pain, and I was bleeding a lot.

"I have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) which makes it more difficult to carry a baby to term."

Not wanting to give up, the couple quit their hormones to increase their chances of conceiving without medical assistance.

Robin added: "We didn’t want to adopt, we didn’t want to pay for surrogates, we wanted kids that were ours, that were literally our DNA."

Davonny, who is transitioning from male to female but identifies as they/them, added: "I was actually fairly far in my transition and I started feeling like myself and feeling really comfortable, so having to stop wasn’t really the greatest.

"Making those sacrifices was like being an addict going through withdrawal.

"If you want to have children being trans it’s definitely something that can take away your ability to have children, and they do let you know that but I don’t think they urge it enough.

"They should definitely be like. 'Honey, you better not want kids because after two years, you probably ain’t gonna have them'."

The couple vow to teach their future children to "not tolerate anything from anybody", knowing they could face backlash for having "interracial and two trans parents".

However, this isn't the only thing they have been criticised for, as Robin has been rudely asked how he can 'be a man' when he's 5'4 and Davonny is 6'2.

He added: "A lot of people will be like 'What’s that little boy gonna do with all that woman, you’re not gonna handle her'.

"And I'm like 'Little do you know. I don't care, you're not part of my life. At the end of the day, this is who I sleep next to - not you. You're opinion means very, very little to me'."

Robin has been fighting off criticism ever since coming out at aged 15.

He said: "I grew up in a very small hillbilly town so I repressed it for a long time. It’ll be almost 10 years that I’ve been out, living my truth, being me."

When he first came out, all but one of his friends cut him out their lives, with some even "pretending he didn't exist".

Thankfully, Davonny's experience was "the complete opposite", with their family and friends being much more supportive.

Davonny said: "I knew I was trans when I was probably about 13.

"For a while I didn’t feel comfortable being trans because it already felt there was a lot of hate towards being gay and bi, so I was like, 'If they’ve got a problem with them, what are they going to say about me?'.

"I don’t feel like I’m a guy or a woman, I feel like I can be whatever the hell I want to be."
