Transfer decision made over Nottingham Forest target amid Tottenham interest

Nottingham Forest transfer target Ruslan Malinovskyi will be staying at Atalanta, it has been reported.

The 29-year-old had been linked with a move to the City Ground earlier this summer, with the Reds said to have been facing competition from both Tottenham and Marseille for his signature.

He will now apparently be staying put at Serie A side Atalanta beyond tonight's 11pm transfer deadline, with the final decision on his future said to have been made by the Atalanta club president. Malinovskyi, a set-piece specialist, is out of contract next summer.

That could make him a longer-term target for Forest, though a move today is certainly off the cards. Forest could be able to sign him on a pre-contract agreement in January if he doesn't renew his Atalanta deal.

Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted this evening: "Ruslan Malinovskyi stays at Atalanta, no Tottenham or OM move. Decision has been made by Atalanta president Percassi."

Meanwhile, Forest look likely to sign Rennes defender Loic Bade before the deadline as head coach Steve Cooper looks to put the finishing touches on his squad.
