Trains off as unexploded bomb found near Scots railway line

An unexploded bomb has been discovered near a railway line in East Renfrewshire.

Trains have been cancelled on the Muirend to Neilston line and an exclusion zone has been implemented while police investigate.

The bomb was discovered on a building site near the railway line on Springfield Road, Barrhead

Network Rail say that an exclusion zone includes part of the track and so trains along the line will not be running until the situation is resolved.

ScotRail say passengers can use tickets on the number 3, 54 and 103 buses meantime.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received a report of an unexploded ordnance having been found at a construction site on Springfield Road in Barrhead around 10.05am on Thursday, September 29."
