Over one million 50p train tickets will go on sale today across the north west including tickets to and from Lime Street Station.
The Northern Rail ticket sale will have one million tickets priced at 50p, three million tickets for £1 and a further one million tickets for £1.50 and it includes routes between Liverpool Lime Street and Warrington. The sale does not include tickets between Liverpool and Manchester but does cover travel between Chester and Stockport, Manchester and Barrow, and a number of Yorkshire routes.
Mark Powles, commercial and customer director at Northern, said: “This is our biggest ever Flash Sale – with 50p, £1 and £1.50 fares available across all parts of our network.

“We know our customers travel for a multitude of reasons – so our hope is this sale will make five million of them – be they for days out, weekends away or catch-ups with friends - that bit more affordable.
“Customers should book early to avoid disappointment. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.”
The sale begins at 10am on Tuesday 10 January and runs until 4pm on Friday 13 January. The full list of routes with 50p, £1 or £1.50 tickets available in both directions include:
Warrington Central to Liverpool Lime Street
Bradford Forster Square to Ilkley
Leeds to Skipton
Bradford Interchange to Huddersfield
Leeds to Ilkley
Newcastle to Carlisle
Barrow-in-Furness to Manchester Piccadilly
Chester to Stockport
Blackpool South to Preston
Harrogate to Knaresborough
Travellers can get cheaper train tickets from Liverpool Lime Street by using National Rail's fare finder around 12 weeks before travelling and you'll be able to save some money on your train ticket. You can also compare all train prices at TravelSupermarket for the cheapest option.
Another tip to save money on your train tickets is by splitting up your journey. For example if you buy a ticket from Liverpool or Chester to Crewe and then Crewe to London it can be cheaper than buying a direct ticket from Liverpool or Chester to London.
Raileasy.co.uk helps you split your ticket to save up to 30% on journeys - and it's perfectly legal, as long as you board the correct train times allocated on your ticket.
