Train strikes: How to check if your journey from Glasgow is affected as disruption continues

ScotRail have issued a warning to expect disruption as lines open after the first day of strikes.

Forty thousands Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union members, working for Network Rail, staged a walk out on Tuesday, marking the first day of three strikes planned. It's expected to be the biggest rail strike since 1989.

With National Rail signallers in Scotland taking part, the majority of the country's rail service ground to a halt with only five services running between the central belt.

Despite trains being back up and running on Wednesday, ScotRail announced that customers should still expect disruption.

The transport provider released a statement on Twitter.

It read: "There will be significant disruption across the country today, due to the reopening of Network Rail signal boxes at different times throughout the day. This follows strike action by Network Rail RMT members, and so services will start later than normal."

What trains are running from Glasgow on strike days?

The next days of strikes are planned for June 23, and 25.

On the days of the strikes, you can see, the services running between Glasgow and Edinburgh are as followed;

  • Edinburgh to Glasgow via Falkirk High: two trains per hour
  • Edinburgh to Glasgow via Shotts: one train per hour

According to the revised timetable, a train will run every half hour from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh, from 7.30am to 5.30pm, however, disruption is expected.

There will be two trains per hour from Glasgow to Hamilton/Lanarkhall with the last train at 5.45pm, you can see the revised timetable here. There will also be two trains per hour from Glasgow to Lanark, you can download the timetable here.
