Train strikes: Are the Underground, Overground, DLR, and Elizabeth Line running today?

In an effort to resolve a protracted disagreement over wages and conditions, in January, drivers were promised a 4% salary increase for two consecutive years

Train drivers who are members of the Aslef union are striking today, on February 3.

Members of the Rail, Maritime, and Transport (RMT) union are also striking, impacting a number of train companies that serve London commuters

Several unions have co-ordinated their industrial action this week, such as teachers, university professors, and Government employees.

Half-a-million people are expected to walk out, with rallies, organised by the unions, to protest the Government’s plans to enforce a minimum service during strikes.

Train drivers also went on strike on Wednesday, February 1, after union bosses rejected a pay offer from rail companies.

In an effort to resolve a protracted disagreement over wages and conditions, in January, drivers were promised a four per cent salary increase for two consecutive years.

But significant adjustments to working procedures were a condition of the wage agreement.

Although Aslef stated that the idea was “not and could never be acceptable”, its general secretary, Mick Whelan, stated that the union was open to additional discussions.

Travel on national rail services in and out of London is expected to be impacted and customers are encouraged to check their route before travelling.
