Train services delayed as wayward cow wanders down tracks

TRAIN services were delayed after a cow was spotted wandering down the tracks.

The stray animal made its way along the route on the Milngavie line.

In an update posted shortly after 10am on Thursday, ScotRail confirmed that the animal had been moved away from the line.

It said: “Services on the Milngavie line are being delayed by a cow on the railway, which has now been remooooved.

“The number 15 bus between Glasgow City Centre and Milngavie will accept your train tickets if required

“Shout out to our wonderful customer information team, who monitor our CCTV cameras as well as answer your help point calls, for sharing that belter of a pic!"

This isn’t the first time this year a cow has caused disruption to the rail line.

In June, train services were suspended after a stray bull wandered onto the tracks between Bishopton and Paisley St James.

In the same month, a calf was spotted “waiting on the next train” in Glasgow.

The animal was captured by ScotRail’s CCTV standing in the outdoor shelter of Pollokshaws West station.

The images of the odd sight were uploaded to ScotRail’s Twitter account as the animal waited for “the next train to Cowdenbeef”.
