The sneak peek of the upcoming film was released on the first day of San Diego Comic-Con. Dungeons and Dragons was directed and written by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley – who previously worked on movies like Spider-Man: Homecoming and Game Night.

The film was set to be released on July 23, 2021, however, the release date was subsequently moved to November 19, 2021, to accommodate the release of Mission: Impossible 7, before being pushed back again to May 27, 2022, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last year, Hugh Grant, who is rumoured to be playing the film's ultimate villain, was spotted in Carrickfergus filming with co-star Chris Prat. The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith and Regé-Jean Page who rose to fame in his role as The Duke in Bridgerton.
